일본군 위안부 할머니들의 기록, 국가지정기록물로 지정
국가기록원, 상주 동학교당·심소 김천흥 전통예술 기록물 포함 3건 신규 지정

안전행정부 국가기록원(원장 박경국)은 일본군 위안부 관련 기록물과 상주 동학교당 기록물, 심소 김천흥 전통예술 관련 기록물 3건을 국가지정기록물로 신규 지정했다고 밝혔다.
이번에 새롭게 지정된 국가지정기록물은 사회복지법인 「나눔의 집」에서 소장 중인 일본군 위안부 관련 기록물 3,060점, 상주 동학교당에서 소장 중인 상주 동학교당 기록물 289종 1,425점, 사단법인 한국춤문화자료원에서 소장 중인 심소 김천흥 전통예술 관련 기록물 2,400점이다.
일본군 위안부 관련 기록물은 사회복지법인 「나눔의 집」(1992년 설립)에서 일본군 위안부 문제 해결, 피해자 명예회복 및 복지지원을 위한 활동과 관련하여 생산된 기록물로 피해증언 구술기록, 심리검사·기자회견·집회 관련 영상기록, 기록사진 및 그림, 유품 등이 있다.
위안부 피해자들이 직접 그린 그림은 위안부 실상을 알리는 자료로서 故강덕경 할머니의 ·책임자를 처벌하라·는 평화를 위하여 일본에 과거 잘못의 반성을 촉구하는 메시지를 담고 있다.(붙임자료 사진 3)
2007년 미 하원에서 일본의 위안부 강제동원 사실과 관련하여 일본정부의 공식적인 인정과 사과, 역사적 책임을 촉구하는 결의안이 만장일치로 통과된 바 있다.(붙임자료 사진 4)
일본군 위안부 관련 기록물은 위안부 피해실태를 규명하고 피해 생존자들의 활동을 이해하는데 도움이 되는 자료로 다양한 유형의 기록물이 포함되어 있어 역사적, 학술적 가치가 매우 높다.
상주 동학교당 기록물은 영남과 강원지역을 세력권으로 하였던 남접 계열의 동학교인 상주 동학교에서 1890년부터 1950년 전후까지 포교활동을 위해 생산한 기록물 일체로 전적(典籍), 판목(板木), 복식(服飾), 교기(敎旗), 의기(儀器)등이다.
이 중 부교주 김낙세가 1890년부터 1943년까지 쓴 동학일기 17권은 동학교당의 설립 경위와 경전 및 동학가사의 간행과정, 포교활동에 대한 내용뿐 아니라 서적 출판의 검열과정 등 일제강점기 종교탄압의 실상이 자세히 기록되어 있다. (붙임자료 사진3)
상주 동학교당 기록물은 동학으로 대표되는 근대 한국 종교문화 뿐 아니라 국문학, 민속학 등 연구에 귀중한 자료이다. 또한, 인쇄에 사용했던 책판 등 인쇄용구 및 관련 물품이 잘 보존되어 있어 근대 인쇄술 및 인쇄문화를 이해하고 연구하는 데 있어서도 매우 중요한 기록물이다.
심소 김천흥 전통예술 기록물은 ‘조선의 마지막 무동(舞童)’으로 불렸던 전통예술가 김천흥의 생애와 예술활동을 아우르는 것으로, 1950년대부터 2000년대까지 공연현장에서 직접 제작·활용되었던 대본, 프로그램, 사진, 의상과 소품 등 다양한 기록물을 포함하고 있다.
심소 김천흥은 조선왕조와 대한제국기 궁중예술의 맥을 이어 종묘제례악, 처용무, 궁중정재의 보존과 전승에 빼어난 활약을 보이며 전통무용과 국악계를 이끌었으며 ‘처용랑(1959)’, ‘만파식적(1969)’을 안무하여 한국 창작춤의 기초를 세웠던 인물이다.
심소 김천흥 관련 기록물은 근현대 한국 예술의 역사를 담고 있는 기록물로서 역사적·문화적 가치가 높으며 전통예술의 전승과 복원은 물론 새로운 예술의 창작에 기여할 수 있는 중요한 기록물이다.
박경국 국가기록원장은 “민간에 소재한 중요한 기록물이 후대에 안전하게 전승될 수 있도록 국가지정기록물 제도를 더욱 활성화해 나가겠다‘고 말했다.
